August 2006 Meeting Newsletter
Talk, talk, talk, talk…..was the theme of our August meeting….
We had a very comfortable open forum last Saturday that involved such a variety of topics. Our round table went round & round and back & forth with no lack of conversation! One subject that seemed to take precedence was that of people having several diseases/conditions along with MS and the frustrations associated with those. Most of us have experienced the initial frustration of trying to get a solid diagnosis of what is going on with us and here we had folks who’s diagnosis haven’t stopped with MS but just continue. What an extraordinary group of strong people incorporating so many challenges into day to day lives. The meeting is just such a great place for everyone to exchange ideas, knowledge, lack of knowledge and even have a few good laughs. It was such a good exchange this time that we didn’t leave until 1:30…many thanks to the church for the hospitality!
Robyn Embree presented an idea of having a craft workshop at the Crafter’s Mall and possibly even selling items at a booth there. Sounds like an idea worth pursuing….any input?
We discussed Therapy Horseback riding again and Sue Young said she would be happy to help chair this event. Marcia Muterspaugh has expressed interest in the past so now between the two of them we may just be able to get the ball rolling!
This month we are proud to announce that we are now affiliated with the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (MSF). They share our basic philosophy of helping people with MS and are offering us support in many ways. One of their annual events is a MS Cruise for a Cause complete with speakers and a cruise tailored to our needs. Historically they have been in the Caribbean or Southeastern warm waters but I understand that they have had enough requests that next year’s cruise will be in Alaska!
We are so happy to have our website so get signed up on the forum page to chat and exchange questions and ideas. While there, log on to some of our links including the one to the MS Foundation and think about that cruise. Near the bottom right there is a place to leave your feedback/comments and we appreciate any input.
Due to the Labor Day weekend on Sept. 2nd, our next meeting will be Saturday, September 9th. Hope to see you there.
